Conjoined Bilateral Pedicled Groin Flap FtM Phalloplasty, also known as Kim FtM Phalloplasty or Kim FtM Penis is about 35% more affordable than other FtM phalloplasty procedures being offered. FtM penis size is dictated by the details of the person's body and size.

There is no option about penis size but the neophallus can still be used to urinate standing and results in larger penis size than metoidioplasty. The neophallus is big enough and long enough to accommodate a penile prosthesis implant to enable FtM erections & FtM sex.

The penis length resulting from Kim FtM Phalloplasty almost achieves the global average penis length for natal males in most countries of the world and exceeds the average for India [10.1 cm (4")] and Korea [9.6 cm (3.8")].

A Kim FtM Penis averages about 10.5 cm long (4.1 inches) and 4.5 cm wide (diameter, 1.8 inches thick). Size is genetically determined by body size and type. Size is not selectable by patient or doctor.

It is suitable for a malleable penile prosthesis implant. An inflatable prosthesis is also an option.

After penile prosthesis implantation, the penis may get slightly longer and bigger. About 40% of patients decide to get a penile implant. Some opt for an inflatable prothesis although it doubles the cost of Stage Three.

No female organ removal is included in phalloplasty surgery except vaginectomy
  • Conjoined Bilateral Pedicled Groin Flap FtM Phalloplasty is a three-stage procedure. Stages cannot be combined.
  • Patients should allow at least six months of healing between each stage of surgery.
  • Surgical fees are precise package prices, not approximate.
  • Not included in the package price are: inflatable penile prosthesis (IPP), general anesthesia, pre-op testing, lodging outside of the clinic, and food during hospitalization. Most patients prepare simple food in advance, such as bread, water, yogurt. Or they can order out and have food delivered to the clinic.

Patients do not need to stop Hormone Replacement therapy prior to surgery.

Dr Kim says:

"DVT (deep vein thromboembolism) is the most common complication of MtF SRS caused by old type estrogen (diethylstilbestrol). Testosterone is known to prevent DVT. That is why we don't need to recommend FtM patients stop testosterone before surgery."

Dr Kim reserves the right to require general anesthesia be used when his medical opinion is that it would be in the best interests of the patient. A patient can also choose to have general anesthesia used at an additional cost of US$2000. Pre-op testing cost US$200.

Results take 24 hours. Physical examination and a consultation costs US$200. The fee is waived for all persons who recieved a long-distance evaluation and pre-approval as a suitable candidate. Members of the public who eventually become patients also have this fee waived or have it credited towards their medical costs.

Kim FtM Phalloplasty

  • Stage One: Phalloplasty using bi-lateral groin flap, scrotoplasty using 20 ml testicular implants requires 7–11 hours of surgery, 4–5 nights in hospital, and three weeks total time in Seoul. Epidural + sedation is always the default anesthesia and is included in price quotes. (General anesthesia is optional, an additional cost, and price is sensitive to inflation and supply-chain disruptions.)


  • Stage Two: Vaginectomy, urethroplasty, and glans reconstruction comprises this stage of phalloplasty, takes 7–11 hours of surgery, 4–5 nights in hospital, and two weeks total time in Seoul.


  • Stage Three: Malleable penile prosthesis implantation (German brand Genesis), takes 7–11 hours of surgery, 2–3 nights in hospital, and two weeks total time in Seoul. Inflatable Penile Prosthesis (IPP) implantation surgery using Coloplast device costs about 30% more than a malleable device. Inquire to get current cost of any procedure.

    • Longer recovery periods are recommended, if possible. Air travel is challenging for persons recovering from surgery.

    • Kim Phalloplasty hides all donor site scars much better than radial forearm phalloplasty.
    • It is a good choice if nearly US$42000 for MLD Total Phalloplasty is too costly.
    • The surgical results provide good quality of life and are good value for money, resulting in an effective, useful penis.

    Dr Kim says, BMI is not an issue for FtM phalloplasty patients:

    "Groin flap phalloplasty can be performed on very obese patients without a problem. But I need photos of the patient's trunk area in advance of surgery for proper and precise answers."

    • Recovery from surgery is swift. It is reasonable to expect to be able to walk unassisted the day after surgery.

    Making an Appointment

    • Dr Kim asks that a patient requesting a surgery date:
    • 1) propose a date at least one week in advance
    • 2) provide us with a medical history
    • 3) send electronic copies of his original signed letters from the psychiatrists or mental health professionals to Dr Kim that state you have been diangnosed with Gender Dysphoria and Dr Kim is authorized to use surgery to correct the problem.

      Those documents on the psychiatrist's official stationary with completel contact information are required by The World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) Standards of Care (SOC) to which Dr Kim chooses to adhere.
